01. sān shí fú gòng yī gǔ:	三十幅共一轂:	Thirty spokes join together in one hub –	Dreißig Speichen laufen zusammen in einer Nabe –	Wo dreißig Speichen zur Nabe hin enden,
02. dàng qí wú yǒu chē zhī yòng.	當其無有車之用。	just this non-being: the wheel's usability.	gerade dieses Nicht-Sein: des Rades Brauchbarkeit.	lässt gerade das Nichts ein Rad gut verwenden.

03. yán zhí yǐ wéi qì,	埏埴以為器,	Mould clay, thus form a vessel:	Forme Ton, daraus bilde nun ein Gefäß:	Forme den Ton, mach' Gefäße daraus:
04. dāng qí wú yǒu qì zhī yòng.	當其無有器之用。	just this non-being is the vessel's usability.	gerade dieses Nicht-Sein ist des Gefäßes Brauchbarkeit.	das Nichts gerade macht ihre Brauchbarkeit aus.

c 05-06		A Room's Usability	Des Wohnraums Brauchbarkeit

05. zào hù yǒu yǐ wéi shì,	鑿戶牖以為室,	Chisel out doors and windows thus form a living space:	Stemme Türen und Fenster aus, so schaffe Wohnraum:	Stemmt man Fenster aus und Türen, wird das zu neuem Wohnraum führen:
06. dàng qí wú yǒu shǐ zhī yòng.	當其無有室之用。	just this non-being is the room's usability.	gerade dieses Nicht-Sein ist des Raumes Brauchbarkeit.	gerade das Nicht-Sein dient so weit zu des Raumes Brauchbarkeit.

d 07-08		The Usability of Nothingness	Des Nicht-Seins Brauchbarkeit

07. gù yǒu zhī yǐ* wéi lì,	故有之以為利,	Therefore: the being – it thereby takes advantage,	Daher: das Sein – seinetwegen erreicht man Vorteile,	So müht das Sein sich zum Gewinn –
08. wú zhī yǐ* wéi yòng.	無之以為用。	nothingness – thereby it gets usability.	das Nichts – seinetwegen erreicht man Brauchbarkeit.	das Nichts erwirkt den Nutzen darin.

analogous 11 Creative Nothingness

Thirty spokes run together in a hub: through that which is not, the wheel becomes usable.

Mould clay to form a hollow vessel: just there where there is nothing, the vessel becomes usable. Chisel out windows and doors and a living space has been created: through that which is not, the space becomes inhabitable.

Therefore: being has advantages, non-being makes them usable.

sinngemäß 11 Schöpferisches Nichts

Dreißig Speichen laufen in einer Nabe zusammen: gerade durch das, was nicht ist, wird das Rad brauchbar.

Knete Ton und höhle es zum Gefäß aus: gerade da, wo nichts ist, wird das Gefäß verwendbar. Fenster und Türen werden ausgestemmt, wodurch ein Wohnraum entsteht: gerade durch das, was nicht ist, wird der Raum bewohnbar.

Daher gilt: das Sein bewirkt Vorteile, das Nichts aber bewirkt deren Verwendbarkeit.
